Loose Steering Correction Thread

Hey,

For the life of me I can't find that thread that had actual pictures of how to adjust the steering box. Could somebody respond with a link to that if it's still up and available.

Loosen set nut.

Turn Allen headed bolt COUNTER-clockwise to tighten up steering lash. (Little movements)

Retighten set nut.

Damn. I turned mine the wrong way.

Better get in there tonight.

Don't remember the wrench sizes but nothing out of the ordinary.

i looked and I believe it's a 5/8" deep socket for the lock nut and a 3/8" for the allen. Correct me if i am mistaken please.

:::::WARNING:::::

Didn't somebody once mention only turning it 1/4 of a turn each time until you achieve the desired result?

It causes very serious problems if you tighten the counter-clockwise movement too much, you will lose control and run off the road!!!!

I "measured" 16mm nut and 4.5mm Allen wrench.

I prefer metric. Easier for me to remember.

I didn't get my blender yet. Still waiting on that next square. I've got all this Margarita mix here, too.

I keep messing with that adjustment little by little and just can't seem to get the play out of the steering. I have been very cautious as not to over tighten it. Have only gone about a hald turn so far but it's a PITA to stick both arms down in ther withthe allen in the left hand and the wrench in the other holding the screw so it's doesn turn when you are tightening the nut. One question i had is would a new steering stabilizer help the play in the steering much or is it just getting that adjustment done just right?
