I traded my 2002 F250 last week because of a SERIOUS issue I had. I had 4 out of 10 Exhaust manifold mounting studs broken on the Passenger side and one on the Drivers side. It was going to take removing and dismantling the engine to fix it. I was getting destitute from the gas bills so I decided to trade instead of fixing it. I know, I know: I shouldn't trade a problem but I know i'm not the first or last to do that. I had gotten quotes from 400.00 to cobble it to over 3,000 for new heads. I just want to make you guys aware that this problem is around and it is EXPENSIVE to fix.
Only four???!!! I had seven and fixed it in under a day, by myself. It cost me, with the price of a new set of headers under $250. I'm sure the dealer marked your value down too for something that was probably easily fixed.

i noticed that this is your first post...you should have posted a question about your studs before you traded it in.sounds like the dealer hosed you.welcome to FTE.
Yeah, sorry to hear about your situation and bad recommendations you received. Most of us fix them ourselves for as little as the cost of a new stud and nut - like $5 per stud.
If I had known about this site I prolly would have fixed it. But the truth in the matter was and still is i didn't need the super duty for what I do with a truck. An F150 is fine for me. I have a 2004 F150 Super Crew now with a 5.4 and i have an edge Evolution coming as well.
Err, I believe the 5.4 comes with the same exhaust studs. But that's OK, because now you know about this site and if the same problem comes up, you've got help!
And the 150 is a great truck, and good on you for recognizing what you NEED versus what you WANT. If I didn't haul so much, I'd be in a "half ton" as well. Stick around!
I plan to stay around for a long time. I Loved my Super Duty like a child. It was the most awesome vehicle I've ever owned. I loved the Ferrari like quality the exhaust had but I didn't love the gas mileage. I have a 31ft TT that I will pull with the F150 but it doesn't go long distances and I'll be able to monitor trans temp with the Edge box. I also plan to put Cat Back Duals on this truck as soon as I can.
