Well like I said, I needed a code reader, got the Edge for the same price as a Cheap Harbor Frieght ODBII scanner, so i Figured what the hell. I am happy and I got a little performance upgrade to boot. Got to stay within budget, way to many project vehicles on Military pay = always broke!
My choices are tow 60hp, Race, 80hp, extreme 100hp. Looking for a happy a happy medium....performance and fuel economy....within relavance....obviously. Towing I will use tow mode, driving around town is the question. A little extra horsepower is nice, less fuel effeciency is to be expected, what fuel mileage I will get at the different settings is yet to be determined without running several tanks and calculating mileage. Now if some folks have already done the calculations is really all Im fishing for here.
Thanks Folks
I used to have Edge also, and always kept it set on 100 I instantly gained 100mpg to the tank,(depending on how I drove it)when I put it on, and for the most part, that's the main reason I bought it. Then after I got on FTE and noticed what everyone else had, I thought I would give it a try. But if I had to do it all over again,I bought the Edge new,and it was more than my DP Tuner. I understand about having something to check codes, cause,I sole mine, and don't have anything now,but a quick trip to Autozone, takes care of that problem.....
Thanks, Don't get me wrong folks, I want a DP Tuner! but I need a Diagnostic scan tool. Since for now, for obvious reasons, I have an Edge I am just throwing it out ther for other Edge users to get thier input. As soon as I can afford it I will definitely be getting a DP, but I will always keep my Edge for a diagnostic tool.
Like what was said before there aren't going to be many edge users on here, we have all converted, and you will too... you will see what I mean once you get there, there is no comparison.
Run the edge on the highest setting and watch your egts unless you are towing heavy, then knock her down a notch.
There are a ton of Edge users out there...they just may not participate on this forum.
I normally play with my Juice from setting 0 (stock) to 1 (economy) or 2 (town)...and sometimes go to 3 (Drive). I've occasionally placed the unit in 4 (race) or 5 (extreme), but only for short periods, just on certain runs stop sign to stop sign.
I especially like the safety factors built into Juice and A2 that I have. I've traveled from Idaho across 3 or 4 deserts, the mountains and lastly the long pull inclines between El Paso and San Antonio while towing various size loads and loved how the system defueled and adjusted as the EGT's began to climb to my safety settings. The nice thing about those settings, you can be as conservative as you want to be, or throw them out the window.
I primarly look for better economy in my daily driving. Before I purchased the Juice from a co-worker who purchased a 6.0 and had to buy another Edge, I had added a Dynosources hard chip that was to add 70hp/160lb's...and what I found is that after also adding the pre-pump and HPX mod's, I was consistently able to obtain 21-22 mpg on the hwy at 75mph, with stock wheels.
When I added the 2-3" lift, wheels and tires, mileage fell back down a bit...adding the Edge, added some safety factors and the ability to monitor EGT's, boost monitor the "backdown" while flying over the mountain pass's.
The reason I upgraded from the Attitude controller to the A2, the addition of GPS Navigation. I've had my Juice and A2 for just over 2 years, and for me they've worked great...on daily runs, road trips and towing.
I find discussions and opinions on tuners and tunes, as varied as those about what is the best oil...alot of variances.
I had both stacked at one time. Mainly kept the Evo on the Extreme setting. Believe it or not, I had better fuel mileage. Now its Dp. Still have the Evo for code readings. Got rid of the J/A due to the fact my trans had gone twice. Went to something that helps the trans.
Yep, good point Tom. I forgot to mention that is why I keep the Dynosources chip, for the transmission. The Juice doesn't control the tranny, but the Dynosources chip provides good firm shifts, so I keep it installed.
I have Evoloution stacked with Juice/Attitude keep Evo on 100 at all time with no way to change it bc my downloader was stolen never had any problems with either chip I do like it but want to try the DP out once I find some money never did gain any fuel mileage tho
