Missing/stalling out issue

I have a 1988 F 250 with the 7.5 EFI engine. It has the 2 in-tank fuel pumps and the 1 external fuel pump. Has anyone had issues with the in-tank pumps going bad? Truck runs fine sometimes then acts like it has no fuel. I haven't had much time to troubleshoot it. I switched to the rear tank and drove the rest of the way home with no issues. I would rather not have it let me down on the side of the road than to just run the rear tank and see if it continues. Has anyone had trouble with these before? Mine are the original pumps with 100k on them.

get a fuel press. gauge and tape it to the outside of the windshield. go drive it and observe the fuel psi. if the press. starts to drop then the engine misses or dies its the in tank pump. if the engine misses or dies and the press. remaines constant it is not a fuel problem.
