01 F150 AC compressor won't start

01 F150 AC compressor won't start
It was sitting mostly for a couple years and the AC didn't get used at all. Now if I turn the AC on, the compressor doesn't start up. Any suggestions on what I should check first? I've never had to do anything to an AC system before other than a recharge.
