coil on plug

Hello to all. I am having trouble with my son's 99 f150, 5.4 4x4 4door. We are experiencing an intermittant miss when we are giving it slight accelerator pressure in overdrive, (about 1500 rpm), and sometimes when we brake torque it. (to try out our fixes with out getting the truck too hot to work on). The consensus in the archives seems to be the cops. They all check out evenly at 1.5 ohms on the primary side, and 8400ohms on the secondary. How does this stack up? Bad enough to warrant replacement? I guess I am just used to the old system that either worked of not. Thanks to all who take the time to look.

Do you have a CEL? How do the spark plugs look?

if you play with it enough, you can get it to send a CEL code, then you got a place to start. faster acceleration, stomping on the throttle to make it miss, etc, might work.

We have had it 2 weeks, with it acting up infrequently. We have not been able to force a cel code yet. All the plugs were clean and white. Went back in with same number (Motorcraft). No way of knowing how many miles were on them.

Get it scanned anyways. You might have a code PENDING, but it hasn't set the light yet. These systems can save a code if it senses something is not right, but will wait to actually trip the light....
