Question #1 or #2?

I have a 2006 F150 5.4l 4x4.

I thinking of running

#1- Magnaflow 14" SI/DO (part # 12198 or 12158), with 4x18 Magnaflow tips (35117).

#2- Magnaflow True Duals with two 11" Body's, same tips, and an x pipe.

I have 34" tires, and really dont want to lose more power, but of course i want something that sounds good. But nothing obnoxious, and i want it to be able to pass emission/inspection.

What do you guys think?

#1. For a modern F-150 a SIDO system will perform better than true duals and won't hurt low end power. If you can't run true duals equal length, they are a waste. A 3" cat-back works very well on the F-150 also.

I second that, true duals are only beneficial if they are balanced with equal lengths, which is not easy to considering the location of the gas tank. A SI-DO muffler is often louder too, as the two mufflers in a dual exhaust can actually absorb more sound that a single muffler can. This varies by configuration of course, but if done properly, the SI-DO muffler can project a lot of sound and can be fairly loud, though it wouldn't be obnoxiously loud. In my opinion, so long as you keep the factory cats, you won't have to worry about being too loud.

Wow, opinions on this seem to vary quite a bit. From reading here and on other website's, it seems some people swear by the SI/DO, and some by True Duals. Must just be whatever someone has on their truck is what they recommend.

Maybe i'll just save money and go with my #1....But then again i've been looking at the roush off road now too. Ughh, not an easy decision my any means lol.

Well i think may have finally made my decision. I'm thinking about just getting the 14" Magnaflow SI/DO and the 4x18" Magnaflow tips and having a shop put them on for me, i'll just also have them put on a 3" Intermediate pipe and some new tail pipes as well. I do like that roush off road except for the price, and it seems i can save a decent amount of money by just buying the muffler and tips and having them installed. I'm hoping to pull the trigger tomorrow (well later today i should say).

The Roush Off Road seems like a good setup, and it sounds very good too. But it's hard to swallow for $500+ when you can just buy a muffler and tips and have a shop custom install it with new pipes all for a couple hundred less.

Thanks for the input guys, i ended going with #1 (14" Magnaflow SI/DO with two 4x18" Magnaflow Tips) and paid $177.90 shipped at performancepeddler.com. I found a shop in my area that will custom install these for me, as well as provide and put on some 2.5" stainless steel tailpipes along with a 3" stainless steel intermediate pipe, all being mandrel bent for $180. So in total, once it's all said and done i will have paid $357.90.

I'm like a kid at christmas right now. The muffler and tips will be here Thursday, and i'll be having it all done up on Friday.

Well i had a little problem with my above plan. No shops were able to do mandrel bend piping, not even the one that said they could. And i was not able to get stainless steel tubing from any of them either without having to special order and pay and arm and a leg. And the one shop that said they do it for $180 was only quoting me labor, not parts. So including the tubing it would of came out to about $250. I ended up going to another shop and had it all done for $205. Granted it's not mandrel bent or stainless steel tubing, but they did a good job. It's all welded and the bends in the pipes seem to have no crimps and be very smooth. Oh and i think it sounds very good!!

I'll try to post up some pics and a sound clip this weekend if it ever stops raining!
