good afternoon all!! i have a question and by the looks of a past thread ( which is beter C6 or E40d ) it might raise some hairs! im looking to put a auto in my 90 bronco it has a 302 built mildly and a mass air swap. im debating between the C6 and a aod. i dont do much 4wheeling, infact i race it more than anything, and its my every day driver. it has 4.56 gearing and 33inch tires. rite now it has the lame 5-speed and its on its last leg. im looking to see which auto takes the least amount of HP to move. oh and i plan on running a 2200-2500 stall. thanks guys!
E4OD then. its basically the overdrive version of the C6. its electronic though so you'll have to get a controller. think baumann sells them. they did have their problems but if you go through it and do all the updates it should be good for you. especially if its geared that low and not really that tall of tires, and a dd you'll want the OD. if your looking for the least hp robbing trans then Auto is NOT the way to go.
I'll assume you're not considering the E4OD since you asked about C6 vs. AOD.
The C6 is by far the stronger trans in stock form. If you plan on having it rebuilt, then you can upgrade parts of the AOD to make it handle much more power reliably.
The biggest difference is that the C6 doesn't have overdrive, and it doesn't have a locking torque converter. This means it will suck a LOT of gas down. The AOD will be much more fuel efficient. The AOD has a TV cable that needs to be adjusted correctly or it will burn the trans up very quickly.
yes my truck is efi, it has all the mustang mass air go fast parts. i dont want to use the e40d, expensive, and id have to use a seprate controller for it. yes gas mileage is important so the od would be great to have. plus if it does take less power to turn a aod than that is another bonus!! thanks guys for all your help.
