crack in the block
Got 64 F100. I have a 3/4 in. long crack in the radii around the outside of where the oil filter mounts. It's leaks profusely with oil until the engine reaches temp. I have applied JB weld, aircraft fuel tank sealant and the leak find it's way out immediately (must be under good pressure). The surface was cleaned extremely well each time.
Has anyone else seen or heard of this? What was the fix? Can I throw a quick weld on there with the block drained of oil, or will I start a fire?

The crack is in the cast iron? I haven't seen a Y block casting for some time, are you sure that it is a crack and not the O ring behind the steel adapter plate which is held in place by the threaded nipple onto which the oil filter screws ? The blocks were originally cast for a big filter can and when the spin on filters arrived Ford made a steel plate and the threaded piece to bolt it up. I hope that is your problem. kotzy
