Not sure where to post this to get the best response so I put it here and in 73-79.
I have a 78 F150 that I'm putting a 3" Performance Accessories body lift onto. Either I didn'r read them carefully enough, or the instructions are unclear.
There is a rubber donut between the frame and cab where the lift block goes. Does the block go between the donut and cab or between the donut and frame? I would think you'd want the block to be sitting directly on the frame, but thought I'd ask to be sure.
That "donut" should be your body mount bushing... the block should sit on top of it(between it and the body). That is the way it is on all the newer trucks I've put BLs on anyway...
Splashman is right.the block goes between the bushing and the body. Now sure is a good time to put polyurethane bushings in.I just put a 2 inch body lift on my 79 about 2 weeks ago so if you have any questions just ask.:-)
So far it's going pretty well. I'm making a tilting front clip for mine so I have that whole thing off. I'm also repairing the cab floor since 40% of it is gone. I figured since I was this far, I might as well do the lift right away.
I was looking at poly bushings and got prices from a few places this morning. A whole set of ploy is less expensive than just replacing the two for the radiator support with rubber.
The hole in the front cab mounts rusted away a bit making the hole about as big as the bushing itself. Gotta weld a plate on it now.
I'll let you know if I come up with any questions. Thanks for the offer!
