tow hooks
i have a 97 250 HD with a front bumper that has no tow hooks on it...what would be the suggested method of getting equiped with tow hooks...do i need a new bumper? thanx

Usually people will just bolt their towhooks to the bottom of their frame rails but if your F250/350 frame is the same as the '92 or later F150 frame the front ends of your frame will be rippled to help cussion a front impact. This makes bolting tow hooks there tricky, I've seen it done but I'm not sure about how stong they will be.

if they are rippled and if you are lucky your truck will have been equipped with snowplow mounts. they hang down off the frame and they are welded to the frame. you can mount on the one hole then just drill in another hole to mount them. They are strong enough to hold the hooks without bending i have been pulled out by them many times without any problems. you also have to cut off part of the airdam in the front so you don't bend it, i cut two square holes in mine and sanded them off so it looks all nice.

what you can do is trim the bottom of the airdam, mount the hooks so they are hanging down off the extention from the frame. this makes it low enough that if you cut out the airdam in the two places you can just shoot cables through there, and not cut the bumper.
