Quick Question.

A friend of mine gave me an Autometer electrical oil pressure gauge. It was nice to get it for free, but I already have an oil pressure gauge. Any chance I could use it for fuel pressure. And if I can, what adapters would I need to attach the sending unit.

It's just a presure gauge, I d'n't see why you couldn't use it.

It reads 0-100 psi. I was looking online at the autometer gauges and I didn't find anything saying it couldn't be used for fuel pressure. But the price difference between the fuel and oil pressure gauges is pretty big, less than 100 for the oil pressure, and almost 200 for the fuel pressure. That leads me to think that there must be some difference. But all the specs I can find on the two are the same except for the name.

Another point to ponder, most electric oil pressure gauges are 90 degree sweeps and fuel pressure gauges are 270 degree sweeps - the latter is to be a bit more accurate on the viewing of the exact pressure reading. Not a show stopper but something to consider.

As for adapters, you just have to pay a visit to the hardware store.

I did notice that the accuracy rating was higher on the fuel pressure gauge. But the way I look at it, even if its not 100% accurate, it gives me a better idea of whats going on than I have now. Thanks for reminding me of that. I forgot to mention that.
