Fuel filter/injector/UVC
Here's my story, F-350 7.3 2002
I abused this fuel filter for about 40,000 miles (just lazy)...filled up for a 200 mile trip ..drove it friday felt a slight stumble /slash loss of acceleration at the foot pedal and had ominous thoughts for about 2 seconds as it caught and proceeded with out further incidence.
Saturday drive it again, 200 mile trip, but this time the stumble did not give way ...it felt like a bank of injectors died ( don't know what that really feels like ) and I lost power to about 20-25 mph...maybe 50 on the downhill. The hard jerking shifts and extremely poor acceleration if you can call it that.
So I turn around and grab the Honda and head for work ...late but getting there.
Sunday ...replace the filter as I had suspected it to be the culprit. Truck starts and acts beautiful ..the SES light did finally reset and go away.
All was well Monday as I went to the job again 200 mile trip. Topped off at the same station as before...drove 112 miles no issues ..
Upon returning home the dreaded problem of no power stumbling idle and severe rough running hit me 80 miles out from home. With no wrenches to get to the fuel filter I just dogged it until I reached an auto parts store to borrow a socket.
Drained the fuel bowl ,removed filter, inspected and shook out all fuel , still clean and white, replaced and cycled the fuel bowl and started.
Ran like a top for the remaining distance dropped off the helpers ...and it did it again on my way home as I was solo.
This am I was preparing to take it somehere to have it looked at but it is running well again.
So ...if the filter is new..and the water idiot light is not on ...ever..
Could the fuel be contaminated. And if so what can I do to improve it ? Diesel clean ?
If the harness is loose and it lies in this area I need instructions ...what to R& R/ what to check? hell what does it look like ...lol
What does a fuel pump do when it goes out ? are these the symptoms?
CPS is relatively new and functional. I replaced that at 60,000 ...116,000mi. current.
Hey thanks guys ...as always even way back ,you have helped me with my CPS ...and now this...
BTW this truck just keeps going even if it is only 50 mph with trouble and running like crap ...at least I got home.
Chris
I followed the directions found there, when I discovered my harness loose, and after installing the clips (since my only problem was a loose harness, and nothing else), everything was good to go.

I know the gratitude is a little late in coming ... But here it is THANKS!!!
