Air Races, Reno
Anybody making the trek to Reno this weekend for the National Championship Air Races? This'll be my third time going.
Reno Air Racing Association - National Championship Air Races and Air Show
If you like WWII aircraft, there's no better place to see them in flight.
I've got a friend of a friend's brother that's involved again this year. Their team flies a sharp looking P-51. Took 6th in the unlimited class last year.

Bud Granly's ole #9 My friend did his up as Big Red we flew in about 3/4 of the races one year After i crashed mine and bent the Crank on the YS 91 i could not afford to continue racing. Too many Crashes and too much money down the drain! 3 planes in about 5 months was just to much for me
.I still fly but now I fly Bipes i have a Pitts P12 Monster from Carl Goldberg and an Ultimate bipe Great Planes kit + a few others.
I've only been to one air race, and that was at the 1973 Mojave National Air Races.
Got to see all kinds of war birds, from the P-51s, including the Red Baron's P-51,
to a P-38 Lightning flown by the Confederate Air Force, to a de Havilland
Vampire, to a F86 Saber, to a B-25 Mitchell, to a Ford Tri-Motor air plane, etc.
All so cool.
Saw aerobatic stunt flying from the likes of Art Scholl in his de Havilland Chipmunk to Bob Hoover.
Had a paddock pass, since I worked at the Mojave Air Port at the time.
It was fantastic.
Dam, I wish I could go.
