I got my new gauges today. I already got my boost and my exhaust hooked up, but I am having problems with my transmission gauge. Do you have to drill and tap a hole, or can you plug it in somewhere else?
oh BTW if you got autometers i called them about a issue with my egt gauge... when i cut it off it wouldnt zero out it would stay at about 200 the guy from autometer ASSURED me that it is not a calibration problem and that the EGT gauge will float until it is supplied with power and then reads accurate...

Good point, mine do it too but it's reading correctly.
Thanks, got the sensor in the tranny, but I have another question...I hooked the lights up to my dimmer, but is it safe to hook the guages themselves straight to 12 volts without ever shutting them off?
Thats where i put mine, in the test port, no teflon tape used, no leaky...
I installed mine (Isspro gauges) with no tape, had a slow leak. Took it out, reinstalled with tape, no leaky. I say just tape it up while you're under there.

I wouldn't, just tap it in under the steering column, there,s a big red wire thats 12 volts. Try to get yaa a pic.. Here it is. See the blue tap on top that big red wire, thats a 12 volt source. As you turn your key off, your gauges go off.
You definitely want to have the gauges on a switched 12V. I think I used the "customer access" wire off to the right that is shown in the Diesel Manor instructions (hard to find little guy). Mike your truck is messier under that access cover than mine!

LOL, i can thank the guys that installed my alarm and remote start for that mess.....
No tape? Why? I tapped mine when i installed it. A couple or three rounds. I haven't had a problem. I just figured why not, I am under here and i hate dribble leaks.

It said in the D.M. instructions to wrap some teflon around the threads but i forgot and just screwed it in and no leaks yet.
Wow, that was a little bigger job than expected. Not hard just long. I got the autometer ultra lite silver face gauges. I bought the trans temp. Boost. and pyrometer. Also bought the quad pod so I left one hole left for my dp when I get it. Thanks for the info on my questions. Im really glad I found this site you guys help me alot. Its so much easier working on my truck now. Thanks
