Fuel heater ??

Is the fuel heater the peace at the bottom of the filter bowl that has the half moon wire soldered at three points to the plate? Mine is broken at two of the three points?

Thanks

Yes that is the heater. Sounds like it is time to replace or remove it. I replaced mine with the superduty one. You have to remove some of the inside of the filter bowl to install the superduty one. I used a die grinder on mine to get the clearance it needed.

Really... just unplug it? Does it really not help? It does get down to the teens here in Texas.

it will just blow fuses if you leave it pluged in.

I am going to work really hard to come up with a better solution when i have my PSD.
I like the idea of a heated fuel bowl, and if i blow some WVO in there, i want to be able to warm it up as well.

The best solution is to dump the stock fuel bowl and get aftermarket FF set up with a heater then just don't power it with the PCM fuse

yes that make them for OTR trucks and plenty on ebay for WVO conversions. Can't say the ebay ones are any good but they are there. Electric (12v) and coolant heated.

I don't know about the necessity of replacing the fuel bowl.... but it does sound like a good idea to move the filter heater to another circuit.

I think i'd throw it on a switch on the dash.
Could hit the ignition, let the glow plugs warm up, flip the switch on the filter, and warm the fuel up there. Thus helping your PSD start easier in cold climates.
