I can finally see the light at the end of an 17 month restoration on my '94 F-150. I've been running the engine, breaking things in checking and rechecking and all of a sudden the engine smoothed right out and raced to the mid 2000 range ( i have no tach, XL model). It runs real smooth much smoother than it was but i can't get it to idle down, even after warm up.
I put in a 260 cam (over the stock 240)
- Clifford headers w/ O2 sensor, EGR tube and catalytic converter
- I did remove the Smog pump (i know controversial issue)
Otherwise everything is stock either new or refurbished.
check codes first, look on fordfuelinjection.com for instructions on how to if you don't have a reader. Then repost and we'll be able to do a better job of helping.
Got the codes replaced the MAP and TPS sensors running better but I've still got a code for the power steering pressure switch. It's stil idling high and i would imagine that the powers steering pressure switch would be the problem. Where is the switch?
the power steering code is because you didn't turn the wheel and let go of it right after you pressed the brake during during the KOER test. Ya know right after the 4 blinks.
Check IAC as dre said, and ECT. Also vacuum, could be a leak.
