what do you consider heavy wheelin'???

what do you guys consider heavy wheelin'? I drive out in my woods where its a little mud. some roots but mostly just big ruts all over. I just like to cruise around in 2wd and do powerslides all over the place. I still havent had to use 4wd yet to get myself unstuck. what is heavy wheelin'?

Snow up to the hood in the deep parts, mud to the bottom of the bumper or frame, getting stuck in 4x4 with a locker and a busted front UJ.

Heavy wheeling.... How about stuff like crawling on the rocks out in Moab, or the Sledgehammer Trail. Or down in Tellico where the trail tends to be a continuous mud hole that weaves through, around, and sometimes up the trees. Or breaking trails through the deep snow up North.

If you get into a situation that makes you wish that maybe, just maybe, you would rather be outside the vehicle watching instead of inside the vehicle driving, that's heavy wheeling.

If you have only one tire contacting the trail (it can happen...), then that is heavy wheeling.

If you haven't broken any parts, whether on the vehicle or on your person, then you aren't wheeling hard

By the way, you are looking at it wrong... Four wheel drive is for GETTING stuck, not to get you out!

If two wheel drive is more fun, you're not doing it right!

if you getting stuck in 4x4 bad enough that you need more than 1 truck or an tractor to pull you out then your heavy wheelin. of course, many people require that just because they don't know what they are doin behind the wheel

in my oppinion if you have nver been stuck or broken parts, you arent tryin hard enuff. i have an awsome rig and an not afraid to get her stuck. beleive me i have been pulled out a lot of times. and brokrn many parts that are not sopposed to break(like 9 inch third members, spindles, drive shafts, u-joints, etc). thats why i never go wheelin by myself and have a tool box full of tow straps, 2 come alongs, chains and 2 high lift jacks.
'75 F-100 4x4, 4" lift
35x15.5x15 super swamper TSL/SX
mini-spooled 9" rear end

One of my friends got stuck down at Port Aransas here in Texas. The water in the sand just washed away from underneath his tires. Two of them were in bottomless pits of water and he had open diffs, so no movey. It was just sittin on the frame. We hooked up one winch truck to it and then two trucks pulling on each side of the winch truck at an angle. Started the 9,000 lbs winch and pulled until its bumper was sunk to ground level and the winch just stopped. Then the two trucks took off with those stretchy tow ropes and hit it about 20 mph. Just barely creeped out and then shot out of the hole. What a waste of 6 hours, but it was a dodge anyways, so what do you expect.

Went wheelin all the time in my 89 bronco 2... its more fun when your in 2 wheel drive to see how far and how good your drivin skills are to manouver through trails but then theres the mudholes u just know to put her in 4by.... and its always fun to go wheelin and pull a chebby or cryco out and when your a mini 4x4 it makes for some interesting dancing around !! and if ya break a non important part (something that would stop ya from drivin the truck) like i've broke my rear drive shaft just put her to the bords and it acted like a front wheel drive... had to get her out of the trail somehow... or if ya lose a halfshaft (one week point on the bronco 2's) it really tests your drivin skills when your goin through mud pits in 2 wheel and prayin like hell ya make it

I've only wheeled in mud and snow rock crawlin looks to borin for me

Sure, some guys get stuck because they don't have the proper set up on their rig or don't know what they are doing. But I've found out that the more serious your rig and skills get, the more serious your stucks are when you do get stuck. Serious wheeling? When, after the attempts of three trucks and a tractor fail to pull you out, they send for a skidder. Thank God that managed to pull my (ahem)
"that other guys" truck from the muck

i agree with much of the above....you gotta be up to the frame in mud, climbing something that requires true 4x4, and you should have broken a few parts such as u-joint, axleshafts, driveshafts etc. etc.
