Help with rear-end code

I have a 70 Custom with a 300 CID and a 4 speed. The rear end code is
WDM-T 9JE
3.50 8 7 311A

I assume that the 3.50 is the ratio. What would be the next step higher that might give me a better range with the 4 speed?

First is real low in your trans, right?

3.00 or the 2.75(approx) gears will make a pretty big diff and you'll still be able to launch with your low first gear.
