Hey Folks,
An engine scan revealed a # 8 cylinder contribution fault. Can anyone tell me what this means?
Thanks Dan
What percentage of rpm drop do you have?
I wouldn't worry about anything less than 3-4% on #8.
They have poor fuel supply due to #6 gulping fuel right next to it right before #8's turn in the firing order comes along.
International truck engines are basically the same design, but they have an accumulator installed on the back side of the cylinder head on the fuel rail to help alleviate that problem.
Ford in thier "wisdom" decided that the accumulator was unnecessary.
Are there any problems other than the #8 failing? If the CPS recall has been done, the gray CPS has caused a few trucks to have the PCM to claim a failure the CCT with the #8.
Check the rotational velocity or perdel measurements as Dan suggested. If you think it may be a CPS issue, DP-tuner has a deal on the black IH units. DP TUNER
