I have a 2006 6.0 PSD that will turn over for around10-15 seconds before firing up. My 2000 PSD fires right up in less than 1-2 seconds. Does anybody know what would cause my 06 to take so long before firing up? The 06 has the EDGE with Juice programmer, Airaid cold air intake and 4" to 6" MBRP Exaust. My 2000 has all of this too and has no problems. Any advise would help, thanks.
Due to EGR, the 6.0 isn't going to start as quickly as your 7.3. However, 10-15 seconds is a little long. Does it do this every time or every once in a while? Is this a recent change or has it always taken this long to fire?
Take it to your dealer and have them check TSB# 06-17-6. The main weakness of the late style HPOP is due to a fitting on the back coming loose and not alloowing proper pressure. The $60 kit (part # 4C3Z-9B246-A) fixes that issue for good.
This is also a good test to see if your Diesel tech knows his stuff. Just ask about a bracket for the HPOP and if he doesn't know about it ask for another tech :-)

If the truck is warmed up and driven for several miles it will start right up, it seems to be getting worse (by worse I mean turning over longer) with the more it gets broke in. When the truck was new it would fire right up.
just put 2 new batteries in my '06 6.0 - went from cranking for 10-15 seconds down to 3-4 seconds. it had been getting steadily worse over the last few days, so i went to autozone and had the batteries tested.

Mine has been doing the same thing, only on first start up for the day or if you let it sit for a while(4-5hours). If you run it for half hour it will fire right back up but if you only do a short trip(half mile or so) it does the same thing. Mine has already had the sct fitting done so I dont think that is it. Almost like the hpop does not see the reading of 500 psi it needs to fire. I was told by one tech it may be the tips on the injectors leaking anyone ever heard of this? I hope we can find this out as I dont really trust it figureing its not a matter of if but when it is going to leave me stranded again.

Id have to say the fitting is starting to come loose, very common on the 05 and up 6.0s
