If you have a F250 HD, you have the F350 frame(I can't vouch for the LD), and, a later(85-86?? +) F350 Dana 60 will bolt in, along with it's steering linkage, track bar setup(yes, these trucks DO have one.) I had my F250 beside an 88 F350 4x4(also 460) in the shop today, and, I did alot of comparing...
If you had a F350 donor truck, and took the entire front axle, complete with springs, steering linkage(might need the pitman arm too), and the track bar(and the bracket to bolt it to the engine x-member) you'd be able to bolt it right in, you'd gain some lift(solid equipped F350's have positive arch springs) and clearance, there's a heck of alot more room for me on a creeper under the F350's front axle(has 7.50/16's) than there is under my F250...

Not really, the only difference between a F250 HD and a F350 is the front axle, and, an 87 + F350 doesn't come near as cheap as the axle does, and, when you look at the market value of a mid 80's F250, you'd have a hard time selling it and buying a F350 with the proceeds...

Out here F250 and F350 srw of similar year, engine, miles, condition, etc go for pretty close to same price, thats why I thought replacing the truck would be easier than messing with the conversion. Guess its a different story in different parts of the country.
Im gonna try to do what that guy did. If he starts making kits i'll buy one. Why not? He said he put 70,000 hard miles on it before he put 2.5 ton axles.
