hello
I have 97 F-150 4x4, havent had it for very long. When I turn the steering wheel, either direction, you can hear a "squeaking" sound coming from the front end. Ive crawled under and dont really see anything loose or rubbing. Just wondering if anybody had any ideas for me.
Are you sure the power steering fluid is full? The power steering pump will squeal if it is low on fluid. Don't overfill it. Is there any sign of leaking around the pump or hoses?
You get better responses to your posts if you use better titles. "Help" is one of the worst titles you can use and some people here may not even look at posts titled help.
The power steering fluid is full and there is no leaks anywhere. It just makes a squeking noise whil turning. Ive also greased the front end and that didn't seem to help.
You might have a dry ball joint or tie rod end. More than likely a ball joint. Get someone you trust and put them behind the wheel. Start the engine and have them turn wheel to the point where it makes the noise. Check each joint with your hand while it produces the sound. You'll know when you found a bad one.
