Hey Guys, My 88 f250 is not starting. Fuel system checked out fine. When checking spark, found no spark from coil to distributer. Truck was tuned up in march so it shouldn't be the wire. Replaced the coil and same thing, tried another new coil and same thing. The only spark at all comes when you let go of the key and you get one big spark. If my limited experience serves me correct the only thing else is the PCM. I replaced it in May already. What else would cause this?
I just went through replacing the coil, ignition module and finally the pickup coil in the distributor, well I broke some gear teeth and replaced the whole dizzy.
Get the gear puller tool specifically to pull that gear off the shaft if you replace the pickup coil. About $25 bucks for the pickup coil. OR, replace the whole dizzy with a reman for about $88. Don't forget to make your reference marks whatever you do. http://images.ford-trucks.com/forums...s2/mad0228.gif
Thanks guys, replaced module and pickup just to be on the safe side, and one of them worked. I also ended up replacing the cylinoid in the process. starts on cue now and ready for headers and intake to make it scream.
