programers etc

I just read an article on a hypermax programer (it was on a new dodge) but one question I have is do these things have to stay connected to work or do they just reprogram and can be removed? Not really wanting to have that thing on a cable hanging off the dash and really dont need one of the power programers like accel or any of the others. So just how do these things work? The one has an A and B setting to plug in to work with. how about the granatelli's?

Also there has been a few articles on intakes, I have read unless going for high HP that the stock one is more than adequate to flow air and filter at the same time. Also in the same magazine a guy claims that SS exhaust tubing is the best way to go but he also sold the stuff.

I havent gotten around to do anything more than change my exhaust, but I need to know what/how these different things work. My son put a programer in his 150 and it caused nothing but problems, no chip with it either. yes it was a little hotter but the problems it caused were more than it was worth.

So that why the questions.

thanks Hank

I have a 2004 6.0L and I have had an Edge Juice with attitude hooked to it since a week after I bought it. It has never given me any problems, and has ran flawlessly with it. The truck gets better mileage with it and the display is a really handy alternative to having to mount gauges for Boost and Egt. I also put 4" SS exhaust on it and love the way it sounds, I think Egt's only dropped 50 degrees at the most.

I have never had any problems at all as far as reliability or Check Engine lights. I really prefer the driveability of it more with the Edge than without it.

I also want to add that I have never had the Edge above stage 4, it has a lot of power on that stage and with blow a lot of smoke, I just don't want to find out if the limit of the stock head gasket is somewhere in between stage 4 and 5.

So over all I would say that, as long as you still respect your truck, it will not give you any more problems than it would have in the first place, and you are going to enjoy it more and get much better performance out of it.
