Well i just got done doing the unthinkable ..new spark plugs and wouldn't you know it, that the number 7 plug broke right off ...well thats not even the best part yet ...trying to get it out
So on with the easy out and not really get anywhere after an hour or so my friend who is a ase mech gets the bright idea to turn over the motor to see if it would pop out. and i thought he was crazy but we tryed
It throws out the porslen and the metal is in their. so we tryed the easyout again and get it to trun but still would not come out ...so with the easyout stuck in the metal jacket of the plug i turn the motor over once more....and pop the broken end of the plug right out what a nail bitter
I know it wasn't the best of idea but the worst think that could have happen was me taking of the head
but it did fix my miss and all the plugs were shot at 38k
if you ownly know what it feel like take peices of the broken plug out ...and the other thing is that the factory plug can't be gaped but yet it tell u to gap them in less it for the aftermarket
anybody know about the other style/type plugs for the 5.4? I was told O'Rileys sells a plug that looks like the old style. I know you still have to get the old ones out

I had this happen to me when I went to O'rileys. when I first thought about changing my sparkplugs and before I did all my homework on them, I bought some plugs from o'rileys. What they gave me were the plugs for the 2v 5.4L engine so I had to go back and swap them out. This might be what they were mentioning. The plugs for the 2V 5.4L (5/8") will not work nor fit the 3V 5.4 (9/16") engine. If they sell the champion one peice plugs that would be your best bet to avoid future breakage/frustration.
Thanks for the info. So the O'rileys plug will fit my E250's 5.4 2V is there a plug removal problem with this motor? Do you have an opinion on the champion plugs for the 5.4 3V

the 5.4 2v has the exact opposite problem.
the 98-04 4.6 (2v), 5.4 2v, V-10 all liked to eject spark plugs at random. just change your plugs as usual. no sticking problems exist on that version.
I bought the champion plugs from rockauto.com and paid nine something a plug.....I can't tell much of a difference....i may have lost .5 miles per gallon....but i might just be driving harder than usual..... If i'm right, ford doesn't have a new style plug
The Denso part is #5326 or IT20. I called a Parts warehouse that only stocked 1 which is $10.95 each. I did not see the plug to verify it is a 1 or 2 piece shell though. I would have to drive 45 miles one way just to look at it. Not very cost efficient @14 MPG. Does anyone a Picture of one or seen one to verify how it is made.
