i am thinking of buying a 2008 f150 ss crew cab xlt
The msrp with options is 35990. they have given me a first price of 25999. This sounds like a very good deal. I am interested if anyone else thinks of it
First off Welcome to FTE I dont want you mean by SS crew cab either but to me it sounds like a pretty good deal i say now is the time to buy lots of good prices on trucks
If I'm not mistaken I think he means Style Side, as apposed to Flare Side.
Welcome from me as well, I love my Super cab, I think you'll enjoy this truck if you get it.
what options does it have? can't really determine without more info. The MSRP sounds like it's a spec'd out XLT.
FYI: a Lariat specs out at MSRP of $37,000 ($900 delivery charge already added). It sounds like the XLT you are looking at is a decently equipped model...but, for that money, the next trim level might be better.
The XLT is a great base model truck. But once you start adding options, the $$$ goes up quickly. It sounds weird, but it can be cheaper to buy a Lariat or FX4 (save money with package pricing) vs. building a XLT to match option wise.
I personally would see if they could get you into a Lariat for $26,500 or $27,000. But I love all the gadgets and trinkets
By jumping straight to a Lariat, you get the bigger motor, the better rear-axle (and ratio), the Leather, all power options, the cool little dash display...etc.
4x4?

Ouch. Again...I hate Canada.
My 08 f-150 5.4 4x4 scab in the XLT XTR+ package has an MSRP of $42000.

I know what you mean. We pay way too much for new vehicles here. It's pretty easy to get pi$$ed off when you price out a vehicle online and then price it out identically on a U.S. website and see what the difference actually is. Then they put on this big employee pricing event every year and hype it up to no end but, all it really does is get the Canadian price down around where it should be in the first place.
Dave
I wish I knew. I used to think it was because of the weak Canadian dollar but it has been very close to even strength with the U.S. dollar for quite a while now. If the Canadian dollar was still only worth around 70 or 80 cents then I could understand the difference in price. Oh well, such as life!
It used to be because of the Canadian dollar value.
Once the dollar strengthened up, they put on these "price adjustment sales", which again...was a load of bull.
Then, they started with the "family pricing plan" which also doesn't mean diddly.
Almost everything in Canada has a much higher price.
A K&N filter for my truck would cost me between $75 - $100.
I've seen them online in the states for $20 - $40.
Yeah, a lot of things are cheaper in the U.S. which is why I'm glad to be living only 20 minutes from the border. I have a couple friends in Washington state that I visit often and while I'm down there I usually do some shopping and fill up with gas in an effort to make my paycheque go a little further.
Papa I called Ford customer service and asked if I could get the "A" plan price 5 days after they had ended the sales promotion. The answer was no, but the CSR suggested that I might be able to get a Ford corp. "X" plan PIN approved. I received a call the next day from the CSR with the approval. Maybe a phone call could save you around $3k. Also check out, Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums > General > Car/truck Buying Advice, way down the forums list. You can request that someone help you get a PIN.
that prices sound good you can get a better price though my 08 style side xlt 5.4 with a chrome package and capt chairs, 6.5 foot bed moon roof and sat radio and all power option msrp was 37.389 minus 3000 ford motor owner loy 2500 cash back and 7890 employee price brought it all the way down to 23999 that is a good price this truck also came with the 18" rims and also the 3.73 limited slip. only thing missing is the leather seats that I did not care if i had them or not
