I had to replace the ignition key module in my 1995 f-150 w/ tilt steering. I got a new igniton and got the old one out but the the replacement didn't work any better. So as I was taking that one out the gear and metal piece with the tab came out. I went to Ford to get a diagram on how the parts went back in and I realized that I was missing a little green retaining part. I bought that and a new actuator just in case.
But here's my question to you- How do the parts go back in? I know the gear first but how does the tab thingy and plastic piece go in? The view I have sucks and has no detail at all.
I have done a ton of searches and cannot find anything. Thanks for your help in advance.
Okay- That was the information that got the cylinder back in but NOW- I guess I need to adjust my actuator because the range of key rotation is off. In other words, NO accessories and key turns too far forward. Does the actuator need to be farther down the column or up the column towards the wheel. I thought I had the gear lined up but nothing seems right now? What a headache. By the way, how hard is it to just change the actuator now? Thanks again!
