I have the Agressive Street Economy file that was written in September 2007. Can anyone tell me if has the EGR turned off in the tune at that time? I thought it did and I put a block in the y-pipe that feeds the EGR cooler and since then on a pull up a hill with about 7000 lb trailer on the back if I make the transmission down shift it will make the boost shoot up above 35. the first time I thought it was the gauge, but when I let off the gas it farted. If anyone has any info please reapond back.
If the vanes are sticking then why would it only do it when towing. I can make the tranny downshift while not towing or just get on it hard and it does not do it. It pegs the guage over 35 lbs of boost when it does it while towing.
I'm going with sticking turbo also.
Why when towing or hard accel is because that's when your turbo opens the most.
It's sticking on the outside edge. Run it hard and it may fit itself but it could break the turbo shaft. Mine did the same thing but it broke the turbo. No problems with the new turbo.

I hope you replaced or modified your Turbo up-pipe, there is a scoop inside the stock pipe causing massive restriction. I have never hit 30 psi.
No I did not repace or modify the turbo up pipe. While not towing this does not happen. This only started after I blocked off the y pipe to the EGR cooler, could there be anything that I may have done during that process that could case this over boost condition while towing and making the tranny downshift. It is fine unless you make the tranny down shift. The only reason I make it down shift sometimes is to get the EGT temps down. It will pull the hill without a down shift, but if I give it more gas to maintain speed the temps start climbing.
I have no tunes or Chip, my EGT's never pass 1,100 and boost under 30 pulling my 9,000lb boat. I think it may be the Programmer (tunes), return you Truck back to stock or choose another tune and see. Hope this helps.
ASE is not a tow tune. You have to be very careful how you drive if you want to tow with it. I would recommend going to one of the tow or Stock+ tunes if you are going to be towing heavy.
Yes I know it is not really a tow tune. I have towed with it for a long time, I have guages and I watch closely. It just started doing this after I blocked off the y pipe to EGR Cooler. Was just trying to figure out why. I have to tow tonight, so I might try a different tune to see how it does.
Is your EGR unplugged? Sometimes that can cause the turbo to go to a failsafe position and not be variable. This causes more boost at low rpms and less boost at high rpms.
