I now have a built motor from the wonderful Kris Myers! Is it save to run water meth on it since it now has head studs and jody tuned my chip for it.
My buddy with a 1999.5 blew his headgaskets using water meth with the same kit I have except he didnt have head studs and had a lot more meth then water...
from everything I've read about that setup I wouldn't do it.......that water isn't being completely vaporized, a small amount of steam is making it into the internals of the engine....and that will lead to rust, or a breakdown of some type eventually!
By the time that water gets into the actual cylinders, it has boiled and is actually a steam. It will not cause rust in the engine, lol. If anything, it CLEANS the engine out, it wears the carbon deposits off of surfaces. Pure water is better than methanol
The only way it could conceivably rust something is if it was injected after the engine was turned off, and cooled down, and all the oil drained out of the cylinders, and the oil residue came off the surfaces, and then the water was allowed to sit on the internals for a day or two, then you might have a case for rust.
Rust is not an issue. If its safe reliable power/cooling stay under 30% meth. 40% is getting a bit close to the edge for most. Have DP tune a chip for it. Its awesome.
Water is safe. It's the meth that gets you. Low concentrates of meth with the water will give you a bit of power and still be considered safe. Start inching at 40%-50% water/meth and CP's start to spike big time. I think Joe (CSIPSD) actually has some CP numbers for different water/meth mixtures.
Listen to what BoyerCustomTruck and CSIPSD are telling you and go from there. Don't do the Nitrous.
Nitrous can be used with good results and not hurt the motor. Depends on setup and amount.Ever seen it sprayed ON coolers? works well. Spendy but works.
welll. i got all my lines hooked up and go for a test run..nothing...looked over all the wiring and all is good. try hooking the pump up to a power source and ground and nothing...PUMP IS BURNT UP! Never have gotten to spray!..first the boost line to the controller leaked..then the hoses melt, and now the pump is burnt up...time to sell it? or replace the pump and try agian.
Nitrous is sounding real good, been looking at the Zex dual tank setup...
