I have a 97 F250LD, same part # for shafts and boots, and for some odd reason, i can only get 400 miles to the lower boot and it rips due to too many ribs touching. They rub and eventually wear through. On the top side, there are 4 ribs touching, as if the shaft is too long or something. They arent ripping on anything. I Did alter the geometry a lil bit by putting in reindexed torsion keys which brought it up 1 1/2" and they are all the way down. My buddy has an 03 F150 with the same keys, cranked up tight (4") and only has 2 ribs touching..... Anybody have any ideas? This spending $120 every couple months is kinda unnecessary IMO. Thanks guys!
I had problems using aftermarket boots on mine and finally went to Ford and bought new halfshafts. That solved my problem but I don't have mine cranked up.
If you have an autozone near you go there. I have my tornsion bars cranked all the way, Ive gone through 2 now (different sides) in about 2-2.5 years. Autozone has a lifetime warranty on them. And if I remember right they are $90-100 + core
Thanks, but I'd almost rather just fix the problem instead of replacing the damn halfshafts every month ya know? My whole undercarriage is covered in that aids lookin grease and I kinda want it to stop. Can I get a diff lowering bracket or something? Thanks
