cut off exhaust

cut off exhaust

So I cut off my exhaust today because the converter was cracked and I need a new one. I left the front one on. I started it up to see how loud it was, it was much louder the with the exhaust connected. Can someone plz tell me whats wrong?

im guessing u dont have a muffler on there

no, everything is off execpt the first converter from the y-pipe

shouldn't it be louder with the exhaust off???

Fire it up at midnight, floor it for 30 seconds, report back here with results of neighbors reaction!

so it is LOUDER with the exhaust connected??? you had a key spelling mistake that makes it confusing in your original post.

My ******* mis-read the problem, no disrespect intended. Maybe the header pipe was torqued causing a leak, and now with the weight of the pipe removed, it is back in place. Check for exhaust soot in front of the cat.

unbolt the flanges and drop the y pip altogether before you fire it up at midnight and floor it for 30 seconds. (joke) then repost the neighbors response

mine was the same way, i guess its just the way the sound resonates through it all. with nothing there it does not have anything to resonate out of. that was my only thinking as to why???
