I'm tired...
So now...since I'm finally gettin' started...looks like the tear-down will
commence...I would like some suggestion, after reading about 500 posts
on media blasting, as to a good, better, best type of media for heavy stuff like the 9" & the frame so I can get movin' at least to make the '56 a roller...
I have a TCI MII in boxes in the garage & it's makin' me carzy!
Walnut shells, plastic or glass media...Ya'all have been-there-done-that as it were...can ya PLEASE help me out....
When you find a old rough, really rough, carcass in the famers field the body might be almost eaten away but you know what is still in good shape, the frame! I don’t live near salt water but I have never seen frame rust to the point of failure.
It is great to have a nicely painted clean frame to work on but unless you are building a show truck the first time you go off the pavement the frame is going to be covered with mud, sand, and dirt anyway.
My first truck I sand blasted for days then sprayed acrylic enamel paint and because I wanted to, pin striped it. Each successive vehicle has got a little less in the frame department and now I hit the big chunks with a wire wheel on the angle grinder (dangerous) and then with the angle grinder with grinding discs (also dangerous), some etching primer if I have any and rust paint.
Seems about the same to me.

“But being wrong keeps me humble”
knew of it but didn't know where to get it...so..one day I stopped by my
future-brother-in-law's corner hardware store & he says "oh yea, I got some
in the back".
Some turned out to be about 15 or so 80-LB bags...anyway...he told me to
check-out a local suppliers website for more info & I found a MSDS sheet so I
thought I'd post the link in case anyone is interested...now I'm not as worried
about using this product, after speaking to some local users, as I was
before...
