"rehoned it every time we had to take it back down. We put the rings on right and the gaps as far away from each other as possible. The rings we used are moly rings so I know they take a little longer to seat but they seated a long time ago."
If you had the pistons out and rehoned the cylinders you didn't put it back with the old rings did you?
It sounds like you are on the right track. We are all hoping it works right this time. At times it can be frustrating but all these things can be worked through. Just take a deep breath and regroup and go back at it.

Well got the heads off and they looked fine and started to clean everything up. I didnt get to the block yet but got the heads and most of the cast manifold cleaned up. We also got a new heavy duty water pump from jegs. We will throw that on there just to be sure that the thing is gonna stay cool. I had a thread on here a while back wonderin about a stange squeak/squeal that it had. I think it was the water pump that was makin the noise so the new one will fix that.
Use Victor Rentz nitro seal intake gaskets for your intake. Felpros are bad about leaking on an FE and causing smoke. Toss out the cork front and rear intake gasket and lay a bead of "The Right Stuff" sealer found at NAPA. Folks call the Felpro Print o seal intake gaskets "printo leaks" because they start leaking soon, giving you consumption and smoke.
Hey thanks guys for the help and compliments. Weve already got everything back together just need to put fluids in and plugs but for the intakes we put high tack on em and a good bead of the right stuff around the water jackets and intake runners like we always do and put a good size bead on them cork ones at the front and rear. I also used it for everything else thats a gasket besides the head gaskets.
