Hi every one,
I have a 94 F-150 5.8l E4OD . When I go on the highway I lose all engine power for a couple of second (like if the coil was unplug) and with a big bang the power is back again, it can take 10 seconds to 20 minute before it hapen again ... but I don't lose radio power or anything else ! could it be the trans range sensor or am I way off ???
It can hapen in third or in OD ! at a steady pace or in accelaration no difference !
By now I can manage to avoid the big bang by releasing the acc when I notice that I've lost the power ... but I'm a little afraid off pulling my caravan ... I don't want to break everything !
I tried cleaning the coil contacts but there's no diff !
Try pulling codes from the computer. See here for instructions: EEC IV Self Test hookup
all you need is a paperclip as a jumper, just leave out the voltmeter/test light pictured in the link and watch the check engine light instead.
I also found some article here that helped me .. I should have called the sensor MLPS intead of TRS .. from what I understand, it's the same thing ! it appear to be the week spot on those automatic trans
I'm gona try pulling some codes ... and follow the tips you guys gave me !!!
I've changed the MLPS (or TRS) and everything's back to normal now !!!
there was no code, maybe because the problem is intermittent !?
Anyway thanks all for your tips ... it help not being alone facing troubles !
some post lead me to this pdf file ... good tips for 94 and older auto trans ! http://fordfuelinjection.com/files/Ford_MLPS.pdf

Did you do any of the tests in the link you left or just replace the MLPS? I have a problem that I've been chasing for quite awhile & this is the thread closest to the symptoms I'm experiencing on my truck. Thanks.
By reading posts about LMPS that lead me to the link I lefted, I was so conviced that the sensor was the trouble, that I bought the part right away !
It seeem that Ford changed for a better sensor in 95 !
I realy couldn't figure that one out without the help of FTE !!!!
