I saw those earlier today. What a great deal for anybody who has their truck in for new headgaskets and their dealership is willing to install head studs. I'd buy them if I didn't already have them installed.

Some lucky bidder hit the "Buy It Now" for $300!!! I hope it was someone on here! Thanks for the heads up Bswanzek. I was thinking about buying them and putting them on a shelf... just in case. Maybe next time.

The seller said $30.00 flat rate. Where did $125.00 come from?

Do Your Own Stud Replcaement?

Hey there you guys,

Since you are buying the head stud kits does this mean you are going to do the work yourself?

I am no stranger to building engines, I am new to diesel engines. Is it safe to assume that the job of pulling the heads on a diesel is the same as pulling the heads on a gasoline engine?

I am considering pulling the heads myself, getting them re-worked, replace the bolds, and reassemble.

Many of us purchase the studs and have the dealer install them when they replace the head gaskets under warranty. The process of pulling the heads involves removing the cab from the frame, commonly called "raising the cab". If you've got a lift that is capable of this, then go for it. You will however void your warranty (if you still have one) if Ford finds out that you have done this.

There is a company selling them new for $385 on Ebay now. I ended up calling them because I needed express shipping, the guy there (Walter) was very helpful and also owns a 6.0. They have them in stock and ready to ship. Great price and great service and was willing to drop ship to my Ford dealer.
