I am really having a problem getting anyone to understand the trailer towing wiring harness I have on my '96 F250!! It is a factory harness that came on the truck and there are two round connectors, one with 3 wires (from the trailer brake control I think) and one with 4 wires for the standard lights. I cannot find a Ford parts person or an aftermarket auto parts person that can understand what I am talking about. Ford sends me to aftermarket and aftermarket sends me to Ford!!! Can anyone just tell me the color code for Ford towing or rear lights. Thanks.
I've never heard of a setup like this. The easiest way I can see to figure out what's what is use a test light to find out what does what and then wire your trailer accordingly.
Steve: I ordered a '91 F-150 5-spd. with trailer tow package from the factory, and in the paperwork with the truck was a schematic and drawing explaining the two connector setup you are curious about.
Orange=Battery Feed
Dark Blue=Electric Feed to Trailer
Dark Green=RH turn and stop lamp
Yellow=LH turn and stop lamp
Brown=Marker lamp relay trigger from headlamp
connection
Red=Feed to electric brake control
Brown/White=Marker lamp feed from relay
Red/Lt. Green=Trailer stop lamp feed
Red/yellow Backup lamp feed
Yellow=feed to relay
That should get you started if Ford's used the same color scheme. I'll leave this stuff out, post if you have any other problems.

Thanks for the help Ed, this is exactly what I was looking for. It gives me a model to follow and I will double check to make sure everything corresponds. Have a good Thanksgiving.
