Same here. I've had mine there for 4 years and it is not in my way at all.

Mine is about a foot to the right of that. Right up against the center.

I like the location. For those of you that have installed a break controller on the 2004 and up F150 can you explain the wire harness? I have a 04 with tow package, 7 pin and want to install the break controller. Thanks!

You can actually buy the correct harness so you don't even have to splice any wires, just plug and play.

Here if you buy the controller you get the harness free along with free 2nd day air shipping.

I would recommend the prodigy, as it works great for me.

Tekonsha Prodigy

Also were I mounted mine there is a metal bracket that was prefect to attach the controller to.

That's the were I put mine. It's easy to reach and remove. When I'm not using it, it goes in the glove box.

I agree. The little metal bracket beside the brake release is perfect and appears to have not other reason to be there. Drill a couple of holes in it to mount the Prodigy holder, plug in the harness to the gray plug near the steering column and you're done in about 10 minutes. It takes about another 5 minutes to adjust it once the trailer is attached and you don't need to touch it again. I haven't had to touch mine in over 4 years.
