Driveshaft length

I am finishing up converting my '87 F-150 2wd to 4x4. Now I'm trying to find the right drive shaft. My truck is a regular cab long box and originally had the NP435 transmission. I swapped it out with a BW T18 and NP208 from an '81 Bronco. The transfer case has a fixed yoke on the end and so does my rear end. I measured the distance between yokes and came up with 61.75 inches. I've been looking on car-part.com at drive shafts for '81 F-150's with manual trans, 4wd, and 133 wheelbase, the descriptions list them at 49 inches w-w. What does w-w mean? Wouldn't this be the driveshaft that I need or would it be best to have a custom one made up?

Thanks

Have one made. $200+ or so. Do you have the old driveshaft(s)? You can at least have one of the ends for them to work with.

Google "Nebraska driveshaft" and find a host of hits, including:

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I have the original 2wd driveshaft but I don't think that could be used to make the correct one since it has the slip yoke at the transmission. I'm starting to think that my best bet will be to get a used Bronco driveshaft and have it lengthened to work on my truck.

Yeah, you're on the right track. Get a Bronco shaft from the junkyard and take yours in as well. That should save you a little money. Have them make one longer shaft with a slip joint in the middle.

F-150's all had slip yokes, so you won't find one in a junkyard that's the right length and has the ends you need.
