I am having some trouble out of my 2005 f350 diesel air system. It all of a sudden a month ago started popping fuses. It would pop one every two weeks or so. Well yesterday I got in the truck and the air system was dead. I went to check the fuse and it was good. Well I left the truck all day yesterday and drove my other truck. This afternoon I got into the truck and the system came on and worked. What in the world is wrong? What would you guys do? I have had it checked by Ford and they say all is good? I need some help. This is the first problem with this truck I have ever had.
Sounds like a wire has gotten worn trough somewhere and is grounding out intermittently. I'd get a schematic to figure out which parts of the harness carry power fed from the fuse or fuses that have popped then physically inspect every inch of them. You'll probably come to a spot where the harness has come out of its plastic keepers and started rubbing against a metal part of the body. You might also try (with power to everything off) an ohm meter or continuity tester between a ground point and the supply to the circuit while physically touching the harness - when the circuit is complete you'll be close to or on the spot in the harness with the short. Good luck!
