1st time pulling since 6.0 trans cooler and exhaust.

Hey guys,
Saturday I went down to Morristown to pick up our backhoe. This was the first time I have pulled anything since adding my 6.0 trans cooler and 4" exhaust. I'm guestimating the backhoe and trailer weigh somewhere around 9,000 lbs. I was amazed at the trans temps and egt's. My trans temp never got over 165*. The highest that I could get the egt was 1000*. I averaged 70 mph at 2700-2800 rpms. Thanks guys for all your help.

I am happy with mine for sure and I dont even tow. the only time i got hot temps was going slow and it was 90 out. but once moving again. 200 was no longer.

I still reach hight temps on long grades even with my 4 MBRP, but I think that is the diablo at the 60 setting.

all in all I am happy with what I had done to my truck.

I towed a 9000 lb toyhauler this weekend, exhaust temps got crazy at times......but the tranny never went over 180* even under the severe climbs of 6% grade hills.......I have 4" exhaust with 6637 filter, need to do more for my egt's....I'm thinkin 6.0 IC next

Let me ask a dumb question here. Is the 6.0 trans cooler and the early 99 7.3 trans cooler interchangeable? I have an early 99 and towing my 5'er sometimes my trans temp will be up in the neigborhood of 215-225 degrees on a 95-100 degree day. Other times it usually only gets to about 185-200 when it is only 70 or so outside. Mind you this is in stop and go traffic. After a while of cruising on the freeway at highway speed it will come back down to about 165 or so.

It'll tow fine in OD, just keep the RPM's at 2K or above and the EGT's won't get high. I do it all the time.

Thanks. That will definitely help the fuel mileage. 2700 rpms and 22# of boost don't get the best mpg.

Nice going, Huck. OD towing should be OK as long as the tranny isn't having heating issues, you're going to hit some hills or the engine is dropping down to 1500 RPM range.
