I'm thinking about getting some injectors. I don't want too much fuel, cause that will raise the boost higher, and i don't want to do head studs. I want around another 50hp. I'm thinking about the DIY injectors, so i can do it myself. What kit should i get? I'm thinking the DIY Stage-2b Kit , here is the link DIY-Injectors.com
The 2B is a split shot injector, like you have now. Less power
The 2C is a single shot conversion and will require you to reprogram you chip for single shots.. This will give you more power
I have PMRs I would like to get the single shot DIY kit but would this risk breaking the PMRs with the mods I have? Should I put Forged rods in before changing injectors?
If I get the DIY Kit will I DEFINITELY be able to convert them to the Stage 2Cs?
The SWAMPS 175/146 Single Shots cost my Mechanic $1475.00+SH The normal cost is $1575.00 I think but let me tell you they are awesome. I put them in and they made my truck screemmm!!!
I did the 2C kit with my 2002 and really liked it.. Singles are louder (as far as engine noise) but like was said above, they take less HPOP and that is the route I would recommend too. Otherwise, dual HPOP's are gonna be needed for the 2B kit eventually. I have hybrids right now, which are a single shot. They run strong!!
Oh and your tuner can adjust them for PMR's to keep them safe.
You dont need to get all freaked out about changing injectors. Its not like the engine is going to blow up as soon as you install injectors on a PMR engine.... You just need to have tuning adjusted accordingly
I use Industrial injection for injectors. No re-mans or DIY's. Mostly because of longevity and the mysterious issues that seem to arise when using used injectors. The pice of mind and avoided heartache is worth the investment.
There are more than a few PMR motors over 400 horse that live. depends on tuneing, timing, turbo trims and a few other things. keep the cyl pressures low and their good to roll. The 400 mark was set by a bunch of trucks that had similar mods. I will say it is worth pulling the rods and studding the motor for a cool 500 horse.
Alot of guys particularly on the other site, hate II's service and warranty (non-warranty). I havent had any experience with them, but alot of guys like casserly, and beans injectors, however bean gets his from casserly, d'oh. The next set i get will probably be casserlys.
