rear axle ratios.

which ratio will let me get off the line the quickest? i hear racers saying the 4.11 ratios and such since it gets into the powerband sooner, im looking for an upgrade fro the 3.27 ratio 9" i got now that i found that gear vendors unit, i know if you go too low of a ratio, you have a really soft start like a u-haul truck i drove a month ago (topped out at 65 in O.D.) ive been looking at the final ratio list on the GV site, and it seems to me i will get the same final rpm as 3.27 with the 4.11 ratio, good choice or something higher like a 3.90 (basing it off the website for final ratios)

I don't know about 4.11 but getting a 4.10 will get you off the line quick.
Is this going to be a daily driver?

you bet it is, followed with some random hauling of a car, load of gravel and stuff like that, i figured the 4.11 would give me the same fuel economy for a final drive ratio w/ the o.d. on

If your looking for fuel economy you will want to stay away from a 4.10 rear end. Your gonna be peggin the rpms pretty high around like 65mph. Your gonna have to pick if you want a fuel economy truck that is good for haulin or a truck that is quick off the line. Cant have both very well.

4.88's, 5.13s....some of the hardcore guys that turn 8K or so and use 2 speeds gear for it.

But if yo uare gonna drive this on the road, 4.10 is the highest you can go and get a speedo gear

a true straight up race truck 4.10's. but if its also gonna be a daily driver id gor with teh 3.90's they still give the truck some umph off the line and aint so extremely bad on gas as 4.10s

everyone seemed to miss the part that you had od. so yes 4:10's are fine with an od to cruise around a bit and drive to the track.

Just because he has overdrive doesnt mean he wont be peggin out some pretty high rpms at high way speeds. Personnally I would do 3.73 but thats just me

Ok so since this topic is about gears,I might as well ask my question for my truck.I'm going from 2.75 to 3.73.I'm going to need to swap speedo gears right?

3.73's ... especially with the GV OD. I seriously looked at spending the 3 grand to make it happen but Clyde isn't a cruiser and averages only about 3,000 miles a year.

With 3.73 rears and a C6 (we haven't mentioned the tranny yet) you have an effective ratio of a little over 3.00 in direct/od, 3.73 in direct/direct and for heavy or mountain pulling second/OD will end up somewhere around 4.30.

I managed a fleet for a seed company and ran everything from 30,000 gross combined to "errand" trucks. If I only could have had one ratio across the whole fleet it would have been the 3.73.

You are correct about being 'too tall' with some ratios in OD. Ford made a big mistake putting 2.97's or such with OD 300-6's. They were lugging most of the time ... and the 300 was a low rpm torque engine. With the 3.73's I had trucks that would outpull 351's/3.55 and still run low-mid 20's for mileage.

ok next question what is your rear tire size?
i have 4.10's with an e4od and 235/85 r16 i run in the 2200 rpm range at 75.
granted you wont have a lockup convertor and it depends on the gear vendors od ratio.

im planning on getting 35 inch tires, but my truck looks pretty good for 32's and a 2wd stock lift. i'm wondering if i slide a 4.10 ratio 9" 3rd member in, or get like a sterling 10.25" maybe a dana 60. if its too much work,
