Smashed my tailgate plastic on a trailer today - cracked only the portion attached to the tailgate step. Has anyone changed just the plastic? Or does this require purchasing a whole new step assembly?

Worst part - totally my fault, with kids and wife watching joyfully after I complained about a 1/2" superficial scuff from a school bag just behind the right rear door.

I hate when that happens! Makes me feel like such an ***. It always seems to happen just after I bitch about something somebody else did.

 

I have the same issue. Did you find just the trim or did you have to buy the whole step assy?

 

you should be able to buy just that center plastic trim.

 

Mine is broken too, came this way from the dealership. I brought it back to them two times and they said it was fine, then it broke bad and wont sit flush anymore so I brought it back again and now they said I broke it. They want $1000 for the whole step. Unreal, I need just the plastic piece.
