2005 Excursion 74k miles had a few problems: Surging a little bit, running hot (burned Smell) exhaust the all infamous oil drip, but a little more than my previous 6.0s. Thinking it was probably an EGR problem...off to the dealership we go. Dropped off Thursday about 12 and hoped it would not take too long..ha ha
Well got a call today (friday) about 12 and was told that it was a bad EGR valve and the oil drip was as simple as tightening a clap that is attached to the turbo??? Anybody have that done before?
Picked up at 4 and the truck runs great!!! Huge difference in power, not sluggish, and sounds a little better and no more burned exhaust...
Kudos to AKINS FORD in WINDER GEORGIA.
Great service and very fast, in that this was my wifes excursion and the kids being in school it could not be down too long, my F250 is really small with three car seats in the back. Glad to have our bus back.
Forgot to mention... Everybody always complains about price of oil change....
Akins does diesel oil change for 59.99 sometimes a few dollars less. For 4 years I have never paid more than 80.00 for an oil change and tire rotation.
Nice post Timon. With all the dealer bashing that goes on, it's nice to get positive feedback on a good service department. It helps those that live in the area know where they can take their trucks for service without the feeling that they're just rolling the dice. Rep points sent your way.
By the way, it would be nice if others would post positive service experiences. Especially on service departments in the NE FL area.
