Not sure how to hook my alternator up, I think I have it wrong, my battery is boiling and the truck will not run on just the alternator. I have the Batt wire, which I know where it goes, but the other wire I don't know for sure, choices are Stator, Field, Ground. I am pretty sure the ground comes from engine block, so I think it is either stator or field. There was another wire on the alternator at one time that went partly up the harness to a connector that was never connected to anything.
So, anyone know for sure what the deal is? I have a new alternator and am changing the regulator too.
One thing, I had a serious drain on my battery, the other wire was hooked to the field. I have now moved it to stator and seem to have lost the drain, but still won't run on alternator alone.
Thanks for the diagram. The one wire going to choke, is that for carbed engines for a carb choke? Since I have EFI maybe that is why I don't have that wire, or it didn't go to anything originally?
