Brake Fluid Replacement
Anyone know when the brake fluid should be flushed and replaced in an '03 Explorer? Pads replacement seems like the obvious time, but if it isn't necessary until 100k or so is there a compelling reason especially if there are no brake problems other than needing new pads? Thanks!

If it's dark, you're too late. I have done it every few years, find a shop that will do it cheap. They have the equipment to do it in less than half an hour.
I have gone to an alternative preventive routine. Once a year I suck the fluid out of the resevoir with a turkey baster and add fresh. It seems to do good, not perfect but good. I also do the power steering fluid too.

I flush the brake fluid in my vehicles every couple of years. New brake fluid makes a big difference in pedal feel as brake fluid is hydroscopic meaning that it absorbs water. When you get fresh clean fluid in there the brakes feel much better.
