Has anyone put a 67-72 dash in a light duty 73-79? if they were used in the medium duty trucks, I would think it would be an easy bolt in. I do like the 73-79 dash, especially since A/C registers look like they belong in the dash. I think the 73-79s look perfect as a 4x4 3/4ton. I also have a slick, short bed, 2wd. It is the perfect best of both worlds... If I could just get my dentside running....
whether it's a chevy, dodge, or ford nothin' feels better than an old truck, IMO! old trucks rule
I couldn't agree more, there's just something about an old truck that you don't get with a new truck, i'm sure you guys can relate to this but sometimes i'll find myself opening the hood just to fiddle around and look at the engine for awhile even though nothings broke lol, it's like a bond you have with your dog and you just don't get that with a new truck.
When Ford went to the all plastic dash in 80, they looked good till they were about 5 years old then they rapidly deteriorated. Steel is real !!!!
I hate that "steel to plastic" conversion over the years, i think it started right about 1970 when the bumpsides grille went from steel to plastic and it's slowly trickled down over the years to where everything is now plastic, at least our dentsides are only stricken with the plastic on our grilles and door panels.
I can't really think of any 67-72 features that I wish were available on 73-79s, except for maybe the Ranger XLT bodyside mouldings and tailgate trim with woodgrain. As much as I like the 67-72 trucks, I would have to say that the 92-96 style is my second favorite, behind the the 73-79s.

Was the Ranger XLT trim package not available on the '73-'79's? i'm pretty certain it was unless i'm mistaken.

Yes, the Ranger XLT package was available on 73-79s. I just meant the Ranger XLT bodyside mouldings with woodgrain that was offered on the 67-72 trucks. Like on this truck:
Other than the overly large cab-to-bed gap when you put a 67-72 body on a 73 or newer frame, that would be my preference! Id really like to find a 76 F250 4x4 frame with its front disk brakes,HD44 front with the Spicer hubs,205 t-case,and find a nice 68 or 69 Camper special body to drop onto it! The metal grille, engine id badges on the fender, and other styling in my opinion(for what precious little its worth) sets the 67-72 above the 73 newer.........again,see above in parentheses........ Bob
