30 minute+ regen!

So the truck has been sitting out front in Regen mode for 30 minutes and it's still going (about 1200 RPM). What the hell? I have never seen it go more than 10-15 minutes max. This can't be normal. It's drinking all my diesel! Anyone who knows more about these systems care to share their opinions on whether or not this is normal? Truck has 9800 miles on it.

I try not to let mine sit and regen, it makes sense to me that driving it and keeping the engine temps warmer would help it finish faster. I could see it taking that long at idle.

Maybe I am an idiot but mine does not regen while driving. Never has. Either that or it does and there is just no change in driving habbits. Mine regens every 100-400 miles and only when I put it in Park.

Unfortunately the stupid regen process can last up to 45min. I thought I was having the same problem 2 you were having. I took the truck to the dealership 3 times for the same thing. The dealership called ford direct on the 3rd time, they told them that the regen process can take up to 45min. The last time my truck went into regen process it lasted almost the full 45 minutes.

Ford put out a TSB on this which said regen frequency will vary from 100 - 600 miles between occurances and last from 10 to 40 minutes. It also states that the length of regen is usually reduced if a constant speed above 30 mph is maintained...

The latest flash (can't remember the #) is supposed to stop the regens while at idle.

I also heard the latest flash eliminates regens at idle. But my job 2 08 F350 drw w/dump body has 1700 miles on it, and I could not tell you if its ever gone into regen.

That would be nice but would it run like crap while driving it? After the 35 minute regen yesterday it did it again after 20 miles today. But it was only for 3-4 minutes. Starting to wish I had not gotten the extended warranty. Then I would feel a little more comfortable with a DPF delete and tuner.

I had mine updated to only regen while driving. They are much shorter and it doesn't suffer any noticeable power loss.

Mine hasn't regened at all since I had the latest flash done! That was in July and I've watched the computer like a hawk (got used to doing that watching the MPG average all the time). I've had the computer on the blank screen since the flash and nothing has ever popped up about "cleaning the DPF" My truck also leaves a nice trail of black smoke. I cleaned my tips real good last week on the inside and they were black again after about 30-40 miles! I've ran at least 7 or 8 tanks of fuel through it since then also.
