Now, how many independent service shops will know that? Is this some sneaky way for Ford to get us all to bring in our rigs to their shop for service? How many other stupid things like this are buried in the owners manual? The sensible thing they should have done is find a power steering pump which uses power steering fluid. Worst of all, the damn pumps on our rigs are marginal anyway, and will hardly provide power steering when you are standing on the brakes. I can hardly wait for the Japanese to come up with a superduty equivalent!!!!

Well, there are lots of different ATF fluids out there too. Don't try putting mercon in your torqueshift. These are things we have to know in the automotive business.

Over here, we have pretty much always used ATF in our p/steer systems for nearly all makes. Thats what always has been recommended by the manafacturers.
Did'nt realise there was anything else (p/steer fluid) commonly available!
